What is Reiki?
Reiki is a Japanese energy healing modality for stress reduction and relaxation that also promotes healing. It is administered by laying hands on the body or above the body, and is based on the idea that life force energy flows through us and impacts our well-being: physically, emotionally, mentally, and spiritually.
What can I expect?
While receiving Reiki energy, you may experience physical sensations or you may simply be aware of relaxation and peace, depending on how your own energy responds to Reiki. Some people will see energy or feel emotions rising to the surface to be released. Every one will have their own unique experience. It is advised to drink fluids and rest after receiving Reiki.
How can I become a part of the Reiki ministry?
Reiki classes are offered regularly at UOB. Our next classes will be scheduled for 2026. Check here for all classes.
How can I receive Reiki?
We have several Reiki practitioners at levels one, two, and three, and we offer 3 different options to receive Reiki at Unity of Bellevue.
Reiki Ministry
Reiki Blessing
This is a one-on-one Reiki prayer of blessing you can receive at the front of the Sanctuary following Service on some Sundays. This offering will be announced on the Sunday mornings it's available. A Reiki practitioner will have you sit on a chair while they stand behind you and either with hands on or just above your shoulders, will channel Reiki energy to you for a few minutes.
Reiki Circle
Our Reiki Circle is offered on the 3rd Sunday of every month fol-lowing Service in the Library and on Zoom here.
Our Reiki practitioners will gather in a circle and channel Reiki energy to all those within the circle for up to 10 minutes. Online recipients will also receive Reiki energy, because in Oneness there is no distance!
Reiki Treatment
On the 3rd Saturday of most months, Reiki treatments are available between 11 am and 12 noon in the UOB Library. In a standard treatment, Reiki energy flows from the practitioners' hands into the recipient, who is laying on a massage table. Reiki practitioners place hands on or near the body in a series of hand positions. We offer 20 minute sessions by love offering to UOB.
