Unity of Bellevue Youth & Family Ministry welcomes youth of all ages every Sunday at 11:00 am
Infants & Toddlers--Our infant/toddler classroom is filled with wonderful books, toys and loving childcare providers who will nurture and care for our youngest community members. All children ages 0-3 are welcome in this space.
Preschool--All children ages 3-4 are welcome to participate in a creative, fun and spirit-filled Sunday morning class, geared specifically for this age-group. We'll use our imaginations as we explore God through topics such as love, friendship, family, etc. within the guidelines of Unity's Living Curriculum Philosophy and using Unity's 5 Basic Principles.
UniKids--The elementary-age classrooms (K-2nd & 3rd-5th) provide a magical Sunday morning experience for all children in Kindergarten-5th grade. Through Unity's Living Curriculum Philosophy, the children will explore a wide variety of age appropriate life issues using Unity's 5 Basic Principles, spiritual texts and hands-on activities.
Uniteens--Middle school age students (6th-8th grades) have their own space to meet in each week with dedicated adult volunteers that lead the teens through life-issue based Unity curriculum. All of the curriculum utilizes Unity's Living Curriculum Philosophy, and provides lots of opportunity for social interaction and a safe place to share thoughts and feelings.
Y.O.U.--All high school students (9th-12th grades) are invited to co-create their own journey in life using spiritual texts and Unity principles to develop deeper understanding of their daily life. The teens support and share with each other as well as connect with other teens through regional and international events. Y.O.U. is a special, peer-driven, Unity structured support group for teens during the high school years.
Volunteer and paid staff positions are currently available!
All of the Youth & Family Ministry staff and volunteers are given lots of support, encouragement and on-going training as they find their right and perfect role with our children and teens. All adults that interact with the youth are background checked and interviewed to ensure a safe Sunday morning experience for all.
If you are interested in a volunteer or staff position within Youth & Family Ministry, please contact Alison Ogliore, Youth & Family Ministry Director at email@example.com for more information.
The Living Curriculum Philosophy
Myrtle Fillmore believed our mission was not to "entertain the children, but instead, to draw them out." The Living Curriculum is an approach or philosopy, which affirms that the curriculum - that which is to be learned or known - already lives within the adult, child or teen, themselves. It moves us past the belief that teachers have all the answers and need to impart them to the students. Instead, there is a realization that all of us are uniquely unfolding on our spiritual path, having access to the Spirit within.
The Living Curriculum is a process of spiritual support used to assist children, teens, families, and the church community in co-creating successful living. It honors the inherent wholeness and wisdom within each one of us, and utilizes storytelling and experiential creative expression to “draw out” the Truth we already know. The process helps us to explore spiritual principles and to become aware of how the principles operate in our lives.
The Five Basic Unity Principles (Youth version)
- God is all good and active in everything, everywhere.
- I am naturally good because God's Divinity is in me and in everyone.
- I create my experiences by what I choose to think and what I feel and believe.
- Through affirmative prayer and meditation, I connect with God and bring out the good in my life.
- I do and give my best by living the Truth that I know. I make a difference!
